While working at Hogwarts, Dobby was also paid for his services but his prime focus was always on safeguarding Harry in all ways.
For instance, he told him about the location of the Room of Requirement and also helped him find Gillyweed. He rescued Harry and so many others from the Malfoy manor until Bellatrix Lestrange propelled a knife into him. Even in his last moments, he only whispered Harry’s name.
Dobby was a big sock-lover, he even utilized his first salary to buy yarn and knit them on his own. The elf with tennis-ball-sized eyes owned several types of socks, some gifted by Harry and Ron while some that he knitted for himself. The socks were a sign of his freedom and service to the Potter.
